We said goodbye to Chevy this morning as she passed away after a brief battle with a serious illness. We tried to treat her and kept her comfortable with hopes that we could give her a little more time with us … but her body was old and we suspect that she had cancer lurking somewhere in her tired and emaciated body. Thankfully, she didn’t have a long, drawn out illness and we were able to spoil her and cater to her needs during her final days and hours. She knew that she was loved and had a family to call her very own. And she passed away in her sleep while snoozing with her many friends here at the farm. She had some good times here at the farm and we feel confident that we provided her with a much deserved and much appreciated second chance. We will miss her gentle, quiet and cuddly nature. She was always such a good girl and was polite and respectful of the other dogs and critters here at the farm. Chevy has now undoubtedly been re-united, on the other side of the rainbow bridge, with her long time companion dog (who was unfortunately euthanized at the shelter before we could get there). We also hope that she is also now reunited with her tiny friend, Chesterfield. Chevy and Chesterfield had become close friends during their stay here at SCF and they enjoyed snuggling together (as seen in this picture). Rest in peace sweet Chevy girl … we’ll miss you.

Goodbye Chevy, We remember fondly during our visit last winter when you were inside because it was so cold and you decided that Grandpa’s lap looked like a good place to snuggle. Here’s to a warm lap to cuddle up on in heaven. We will miss you.
